Drunk Driver's
OTHER STATISTICS ASSOCIATED WITH DRINKING AND DRIVING ARE EQUALLY ALARMING:
Since 1973, four times as many Americans died in drunk driving crashes as were killed in Vietnam. Nearly 1,000,000 more are maimed or seriously injured each year.
One out of every 100 babies born today will die in a crash with a drunk driver. Drunk driving is the leading cause of death for teenagers. Police estimate that as many as 1 in 10 drivers on your roads each weekend is legally intoxicated. Half of the fatalities in New York state involved intoxicated drivers and pedestrians. With increased Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), crash risk increases sharply. A driver with a BAC of 0.08 is four times as likely to cause an accident as a driver who has not been drinking, while a driver with a BAC of 0.16 is 25 times as likely to do so. Young drinking drivers are the highest risk of all. Drivers 20 years old or younger are almost four and one-haft times more likely to be involved in alcohol-related fatal crashes than other drivers. Don't Drive Drunk! The problem drinker---whether that drinker be you, a member of your family, a friend must be removed from our highways. Social drinkers should also be warned that if they drive drunk they will get caught and punished...if they don't become another statistic. Join Professional Insurance Agents Association in its efforts to help regain sober control of our highways.
